Pacific Bell Centrex at UC Berkeley
Below are some details about Centrex service at UC Berkeley.
- the current software load of the DSM100 at BKLYCA01 is LEC14
- The DMS100 offers release link trunking in the Primary Rate ISDN (PRI)
offering using National ISDN 1 (NI1).
- The DMS 100 does not have SIP or H.323 interface.
However, Pacific Bell will be installating the Lucent iMerge along side
CO switches where there are demand for Centrex IP.
If PB installs an iMerge in Berkeley, it will be
connected to the DMS100 via GR303.
In turn, the iMerge will talk to VoIP CPE
on customer premises via H.323.
The iMerge plans to support SIP in the future.

SuperTrunk and ISDN PRI are multi-channel configurations that can be provisioned on a 1.544 Mbps T-1 (DS1) circuit. SuperTrunks use in-band signalling. PRIs have a D-channel that allows out-of-band signalling. Supertrunks use DTMF signaling and wink start.

TelePacific's FAQ page has the following to say about SuperTrunks:
Businesses requiring at least 18 or more voice-grade channels for local or long distance calls or businesses that do approximately $1000.00 per month in local and long distance calls should consider a T1. T1's offer major economic advantages over alternative means of access and are most cost effective when utilization is heavy or near full capacity for extended times.
